Season Two

Since Season 1 is Half-Way Over I wonder if USA brings the Show back for Season 2, I'm really started to Love this new show

reply

As much as the fans love the show and from what I've read the critics love it too...so YES it will not only have a season 2 but several more!

reply

The ratings aren't too high for the show, but it is getting good reviews from critics and Fairly Legal has been renewed in the past with the ratings Common Law is getting, so it's a good possibility.

reply

I'm wondering... Anyone remembers White Collar's ratings during its first season? Never took any notice, just kept wishing they wouldn't cancel it.

About Common Law: I love it. It's light and funny and the characters are really cool. Hope it survives for many seasons.

Generally, the show got 3-5 million viewers. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_White_Collar_episodes)
Be kind...speak stupid for me. I am not smart.

reply

Ah, thanks! Apparently it's been losing viewers though. Which, personally, I understand...

On the other hand Common Law seems to have had a slow start, but I think the ratings will improve. For instance, the facebook page is steadily getting more likes every day.

Then again, a few shows have survived for a long while without good ratings. Look at Chuck: it was on for almost 5 years. And that was on NBC.

Common Law definitely did not get off to a slow start. Ratings are always super low on Fridays, especially on cable, and it had ratings that would typically get it renewed on normal weeknights (it's dropped off .1 since it started, though, going from a 0.7 to a 0.6 in the 18-49 demo). It's actually doing decently. If it were puling in these ratings on a Wednesday, it would probably be in trouble (it would be on the low end of the bubble), but it should be fine for Fridays.

I've been watching USA for as long as I can remember, and I can't think of a single show post-Monk and Dead Zone that hasn't been given a chance beyond their first season. It seems as though their business model allows for it as opposed to how the major networks operate. I think Fairly Legal is the first show where I've seen people talk about a real chance at cancellation.

If I remember correctly, White Collar was a hit from the start. I stopped watching it consistently last season.

That said, I love Common Law, and hope it's around for a long time.

Yeah. That's what I love about USA. They have good original shows and they're willing to give them a chance.

reply

USA has a better mindset than some of the other networks-maybe that's WHY they have better shows? Maybe they attract better writers because they know their work will be given a chance.

You can't? Let me help you: The Good Guys. Also on Friday, also a comedy about cops in a dysfunctional partnership, also highly entertaining. One season and it was cancelled. USA does care about ratings and this show is not a safe bet.

reply

This is definitely The Good Guys' cousin, however, did you know that Common Law has ratings that are actually close to the ratings that The Good Guys had? It's safe, especially in comparison to a show that was on network TV.

But Good Guys was on FOX. FOX drops goods shows all the time. Human Target is a good example of a good show getting dumped after 2 seasons. USA is good about giving shows a chance to grow. Psych (a former favorite show of mind), Monk, Burn Notice definitely had rough starts but lasted (some are still on) for several seasons. I like Pysch from the very beginning but I still can't believe it's still on compared to other shows that get cancelled after 1 or less seasons. I wish Human Target was on USA and it would still be on. That show was awesome. Common Law is a great buddy cop, dramedy. Every episode has had a LOL moment for me. I hope this get's at least 5 season like other USA shows.

Did you just hit me for real?

reply

The point I was making was both that The Good Guys ratings were low for network TV, and that Common Law's ratings were almost as high as those on a Friday night at 10pm on basic cable.

I'm still super pissed about Human Target's (also Lie To Me) undeserved cancellation, so thanks for re-opening that wound. ;) I agree with everything else you say.

It's an awesome show from an awesome network and it's highly praised so I think it will return for a season 2.

It gets a little bit better with every episode.

I certainly hope they bring it back for another season. The show deserves it. Good acting, reasonable storylines...and the humor is well done.

I want a second season. Wonder when we'll find out?
