To all "Worst Movie EVER" guys out there
I haven't read the posts about this film for a while but I remember coming here after seeing the film and reading all the hate. Well first let me make this clear - I also thought "Down the Road" sucked quite much in many areas and I still do. It has quite many flaws - amateurish directing, boring villain, dragging plot and special effects that leave much to be dezired. But... now I have seen many amateur/independent movies and I have became easier on the subject. Tonight I saw a turd of a movie called "Left for Dead"(2007) and it inspired me to write here becaue it makes "Down the Road" look like a freakin masterpiece of modern cinema! What amazes me is the fact that the film I had a misfortune to see tonight also found distribution and that it featured Danielle Harris who has done really good job as a scream queen in some quite modest b-grade hooror treats. But it was horrible. And it made me think again. "Down the Road" was a directorial debute and had close to none budget. Not everyone is Robert Rodrigues who hits the jackpot with first attempt. Considering all I think that "Down the Road" is quite respectable effort from a young aspiring film maker and I personally am interested to see what he can make next time. Believe me it is not even close to "worst movie eva"- there are countless number of undescribably worse pieces of trash produced and distributed :P
