with apologies to Janet

For those old enough to remember "Three's Company," I never thought of Janet as the charismatic one. She was the straight man. And why would the boss want a charismatic temp to guard a museum closet door anyway? The complaints against her were pretty tame. If he had fired her for being late, well, that would have made sense. But he fired her because she wasn't like a TV character from 35 years ago. It's like the writers couldn't bear to give Janice (in the movie) any real faults.

Maybe it was implied sexual harassment? Who tells someone they are going to fire to act like Janet on 3's Company?

Yeah, the boss was a dick. Hated how he treated Janice and wanted her to be more charismatic or likeable or whatever. Reminded me of how I was treated at my ex-job until I finally had the balls to walk and try to find my own path in life. Though not before I tried to get help at that job, to get reassigned due to mental health issues into a position less stressful, so please don't start with that...I only left as a last resort for my health/sanity.

But yeah, getting fired was probably the best thing to happen to Janice. Aside from meeting Tim, of course :-) Its strange how in this corporate, capitalist American culture, if someone's in an abusive relationship, its considered a sign of strength to leave. All well and fine. Yet, if someone's job is abusive, its a sign of strength to stay. Something wrong with that. Abuse is abuse. Life is too short to be treated like crap and be unappreciated by people you bend over backward for. Screw. That.
