Uncle foreshadowing (spoiler)

Very early in the movie, during a moment alone, the uncle shines his flashlight on Sarah..asks her how she's doing...then he says something like "I can't believe how grown up you've gotten." It's an awkward moment for Sarah...Did anyone else get a creepy vibe from the uncle right then? I'm not saying the whole twist was revealed to me but I did say to myself "There's probably going to be something about the uncle trying something with her."

reply

Ya, I thought he was going to try to do something with her. I also thought he was going to try something with her when she ran back in the house from waiting out in the truck, and gave her a hug.

Yeah, I got the feeling from both the uncle and the dad. They both gave off creepy vibes and acted strangely around her. Maybe another odd thing was that they both seemed pretty young and not too far off in age from Sarah.

reply

Yup, it was so obviously weird how he told her how shes all grown up or whatever. Made me immediately suspicious.

i noticed that also..but for me the 'A HA' moment came very early in the first few minutes of the film where the dad and daughter are outside and there was this odd moment, and something about the way the dad was with the daughter that made me think, something is odd between these 2..the dad oozed of slime,to me anyway..and the daughters low cut top wearing, around her dad i found a bit 'odd'..

i told my husband that there was "sexual tension" b/t the uncle and sarah. but i'm always lookin for "sexual tension" in tv shows && movies i watch lol. another thing that kinda made sense after the fact, how the dad && sarah almost seemed like husband and wife rather than dad and daughter -- he treated her like she was his other half, if that makes sense..but i dont c anything wrong with the outfit she was wearing around her dad, i wore low-cut shirts around my daddy..of course, he wasnt a child molester either..

u r right there is nothing wrong with wearing low cut tops around ones dad..lord knows i did when i was a teen.....and i am a guy :-) :-) lol.
but u r correct..there was a bit more to the scene it seemed like they lingered on her breasts at one point to imply the fact that the dad noticed...to me there was just something about that scene also, that just made me go...hmmmm...
i wish the dvd had come with some bonus material...like commentary...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS....I AM NOW OFF TO FIND A LOW CUT CHRISTMAS TOP TO WEAR AROUND MY DAD DURING CHRISTMAS DINNER..I WONDER IF MY UNCLE WILL BE THERE ALSO?? :-) XX

reply

Yes...and also during that first scene with Sarah and her dad...she says something about her ex-boyfriend wanting her back. Her dad says "He's not good enough for you, princess." ...something a normal dad could say to his daughter and it would be fine, but looking back after you know about Sarah's dad, him saying that was extremely creepy

reply

Yes, I thought it was very creepy and weird, but I'm pretty sure they made it that way for that specific reason.

I remember, after hearing that uncle say that, saying out loud "What is he, a 'funny uncle'?"
Which is, of course, slang for a perverted relative. I really didn't think he was one when I said it lol! Because I always assume relatives are pervs in films, and they rarely are.
But this movie sure proved me wrong eek!

Yes, the Uncle definitely gave off a creepy vibe there, although i figured it
was a red herring. It was too early to give anything away.

Yup, I got that same feeling too. At that time, I didn't really know he was the uncle. I thought he was her dad's friend who was trying to hit on her. But they both gave off really creepy vibes. I had a suspicion about the uncle throughout the whole movie. The dad was weird but I didn't think much of him.
