Why did this get such bad reviews?

Thought it was a great movie. Was surprised I didn't even know it existed until just now

A delightful movie. I read the book only after seeing the film. Enjoyed both. The film grabbed me because of its peculiar combination of light hearted humor, romance, pretty girls and horror very much reminiscent of classics like "American Werewolf in London" and similar films. Also enjoyed the fast pace of the directing, although some of the editing was choppy. Critics should lighten up on this one.

From reading the reviews on RT, many who didn't like the film had trouble reconciling the humor and horror aspects. They seem to feel one-or-the-other should be dominant, and Odd Thomas treats both with roughly equal respect.

I felt the tone worked fairly well, but I gave it a "6" largely because of how poorly cast Stormy was (and I haven't even read the book). Timlin is as hot as the desert, but she was terrible here, which is something of a problem for such a major character.

I've read the books and thought the movie was fine. I'm actually old enough to have seen another movie based on one of his books, Watchers, that was quite horrible.

By the rating here it would seem that quite a few other people like the movie as well, so I'm happy knowing that the haters are the minority. There's people out there who think "chemtrails" are real and the moon landing was fake, so who cares.

Anton was superb in this as well, what a bummer.

Dunno if the dialogue was lifted from the book, but it was as corny as Hell.

Spoiled the film.

The black chick was nice though. Great hooters. Stormy too.

You're my wife now.

It's an awful film. Missed the quirky hipster trend by 2-3 years and was filmed and edited like an episode of My Name is Earl. A very poor script, too.
