There was no reason for this to be in the found footage format.

Seriously, why was this shot in found footage style other than to cash in on the hype?

First of all, it didn't make any sense. The villain had no way of setting all these cameras up, he simply didn't have enough time. Sure, people leave the house and he can enter the house and set up the cameras, but that'd take days. Did he wait for them to go on vacation? I don't think so. It would've worked better if he was a stalker and we'd see the events play out from his POV, using only a single camera.

Second, how did no one notice the cameras or the guy in the car? If you look at all the cameras and the way they're set up, there must be over 80 cameras. Sure someone would notice the two next to his computer at work.

In order for the found footage thing to work, there must be a reason to film. People must be aware of the cameras. The camera should work as a plot device, which didn't happen in this movie.

I must admit that having part of the film play out from the killer's POV instead of the victim is refreshing and new, but why didn't they keep this up? This movie just feels like a lame attempt to create something original, ignoring the fact that you can't make something original out of unoriginal parts.
