The writers got bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder mixed up.
There is nothing even vaguley reminiscent of biopolar disorder in this film.
It's actually one of the worst films about 'bipolar' I have ever seen.
If you don't understand an illness. Don't write a *beep* film about it.

At the time, Bipolar was basically a blanket diagnosis for any type of personality disorder. Especially when you combine it with drug addiction. We know a lot more about borderline personality disorder then they did in 1999. That being said I would say the same thing but Ashleys not exactly around to be diagnosed anymore. I've spent time in the drug communities of Tampa, unfortunately, its a place that seems all too easy to disappear.
