Better then Goosebumps!

I just started watching this and Goosebumps on netflix. Haunting Hour is clearly the better show, Goosebumps was just too corny.

This show does have its fair share of silly moments, but overall, it is definitely more mature than Goosebumps. Plus, it has a bigger budget and the acting is far better for the most part.

That said, I think a few Goosebumps episodes (the more serious, less corny ones) are just as good as, if not better than, anything from The Haunting Hour.

There's a couple good Goosebumps episodes (The Haunted Mask, Werewolf Skin etc), but most of the series is just awful. The Haunting Hour has a few misses/cheesy episodes, but most of the episodes are very good/solid. I like Are You Afraid of the Dark more than both though.

That's a low bar. If we remove our nostalgia glasses, Goosebumps was 80% horrible. I do love the practical special effects and monster suits, though.

Yes i agree. What I liked about The Haunting Hour is it had hidden messages and lessons to learn/think about. Like the Detention episode, the Good Will episode and the Grandpa's Glasses episode.

I enjoyed the goosebumps books but never cared for the TV show. In my humble opinion the Haunting hour is a million times better.

Yeah. Goosebumps wil always be a very special part of my childhood but in retrospect, it had many issues. The Haunting Hour is indeed better.

I'm a 90's kid and still enjoy the old series but this has better writing, acting, budget and a creepier vibe for the most part.

I don't think it's a fair comparison. This does tend to have better actors and budget. Plus Goosebumps had that 90s silliness which is what makes it nostalgic. Yeah looking back now it doesn't always age well, but it still has it's fair number of creepy moments and good twist. Do I think this series will likely age better, probably. But what makes them both good are different things.
