Very watchable and understated movie.

If this was a hollywood film they would have made the teenage lesbian angle the main talking point of the film. Thank goodness this film was more old fashioned and intelligent. A bit slow and ponderous in places and you had to concentrate to understand all the plot turns. But i found it fascinating. Well worth the wait.

I've got mixed feelings about this movie. It had a lot of potential, visually fine, and of course there is Stephen Rea. The lesbian angle added nothing to the story and the two actresses were weak points. It failed on creating tension.

The biggest difficulty I had with it was the very low-volume dialogue throughout the film. It made what was a fairly interesting story hard to follow because I had to keep backing out up and replaying parts.

Eventually, I put on the subtitles, but that was a compromise because it's beautifully shot and that detracted a bit.

Otherwise, though, I really liked it. Amid all the torture movies that are out now, this was a refreshing change; a good, old-fashioned vampire/ghost story.
