The best adaptation of "Carmilla"...

... I have seen.

Until now, Roger Vadim and Hammer focused on the sensual angle.

This Carmilla exudes not sensuality, but evil as it should be.

The father-daughter relationship is moving and heart-warming.

Before watching Styria, I didn't know about this old vampire story called Carmilla. But now I did some digging and found that it has been made into a movie several times. Styria can probably beat the cheesy adaptations from the 1960s and 1970s (Vampire Lovers and stuff like that). However, a movie like Moth Diaries is not so easy to beat - I'm not sure which one is better. There is also this 1989 TV movie Carmilla, which sounds quite good. All in all, Styria is among the best adaptations of Carmilla, but I'm not quite sure if it is the very best one.
