The ending is left open to interpretation, like The Ides of March


So without spoiling anything, it relies on your own judgement and sense of morality to decide what happens next.

I like films that end like this, but obviously some don't.

Well, maybe, but my husband thinks it wasn't left open...he thinks the end shows Robert is calling Ellen's bluff. He's not signing the agreement Ellen shoved at him, banking on Ellen's realization that Robert's wealth funds these charities she's so passionate. She's not going to fink on him when it comes down to it. She knows which said her toast is buttered on. I thought about it a while and I think he's right. His take in it makes sense IMO.
