I don't understand so many of the "first times" in films.. They wouldn't have had a problem had they had a little foreplay, especially since the condom scene wouldn't have been awkward if they'd taken a little time to get used to being around each other in a sexual context. I understand that the film needed the dramatic angle, but man, foreplay needs some endorsement in films like this, big time!

shareI think the other issue was they barely knew each other. They hadn't reached a point where they were natural and comfortable around each other yet so it made the sex scene that much more awkward.

shareI would guess that many, many, first sexual encounters where both the male and female are both virgins, go much like this without the drama involved lol. Foreplay, warming up your partner, and doing things right probably isn't thought of in most instances. Most couples have done the manual stimulation, oral, etc. and just want to get to the new and exciting part. Furthermore, they're teenagers so the girl is WET already. They're not 75 lol.
I put it down not so much to them being virgins, but the fact that it was probably the first time they were with someone they really liked. So the moment wasn't just about sex and they were caught up in it. In fact even if they weren't virgins (him with the first girl, her with the bf), a lot of the scene would have still played out the same...but hopefully with a better result.

Foreplay definitely would've helped it out... I was surprised they were having this hot scene with kissing and then they suddenly stopped that all together. That is great to lead to more foreplay
