Chase. What an amazing depth. Every actor aspires to play a character like that. Truly amazing. That's what stories are made of.

I interpreted it as Chase is to Aubrey what Dave was to Jane. He loved her, he put her up on a pedestal but she always chose guys that, in his eyes, were wrong for her.
