Mildred Loving

She was an amazing woman. She had the face of an angel, there was just a warmth and kind of innocence in her eyes. You could see that her soul was totally free. No wonder the guy fell in love with her.

Are you speaking of the real Mildred Loving or the actress who portrayed her?

No, I watched the documentary on PBS the other night. As far as I could tell, it was all actual footage from the 60s, no kind of re-enactment using actors or actresses.

I've yet to see it myself so I wasn't sure. Living around here you already have to study about it enough and I've already scene a few documentaries on it from all that.

Some shots were reenactments, like Mildred getting out of the car trunk when she arrives in Virginia but that is about it.

Films are not reality. Reality is not film. Film is only an approximation of reality.

"Mr. and Mrs. Loving" was not a documentary, and she was portrayed by an actress in that movie. This footage was actually of her.

What was their 3rd child's name, and why wasn't it used? Did he not want to participate, or what?

reply

The third child's name was Sidney Jeter, and he was their oldest child, born out of wedlock in 1957. Mildred was 16 years old at the time.

I completely agree. I just saw this documentary on HBO and Richard had such a strong, quiet presence and Mildred did, indeed, have the face of an angel. She was such an ethereal beauty. They semed so peaceful and happy together. What a beautiful family. So sad that a drunk driver robbed them of the decades of happiness they were entitled to.
