more omissions

Continuing the 'Stars, Directors left out' thread : some of my own observations:

fifties : short shrift for the newly anointed greatest-film-of-all-time Vertigo; surprisingly brief coverage of Marilyn Monroe; no mention of William Castle; not much on Joe McCarthy & his impact; scant coverage of film noir (ditto for 1940s segment); nothing about film music, esp. Bernard Herrmann; very lite, if anything, on Samuel Fuller; and maybe worst of all, nothing on Douglas Sirk, arguably the quintessential 50s director

sixties : Woodstock, Once Upon a Time in the West, Pontecorvo, esp. Battle of Algiers, Good, Bad & Ugly et al
