Kathryn - so awesome this episode!

Luca - wonderful.

Daphne - annoying and pretty duh (hey, growing up in a Puerto Rican neighborhood does not make one Puerto Rican).

Bay's new job at the tattoo parlor and saving the day and speaking Chinese - also awesome!

But sadly no Emmett (whom I miss). From the last scene, it looks like Bay will be sticking with Travis for a while.

"What time is sunrise?"
"When I open this door."

speaking Chinese - also awesome!

What were the chinese saying and Bay's respond?

reply

I have no idea LOL but I thought kudos to the actress for learning the foreign words, and Bay did looked quite 'convincing' in the line delivery. So, awesome.

Don't know = awesome. lol.

Looks like they were talking gibberish.

Make fun all you want.

I still think Bay was awesome in that scene, using her experience in China to save the day.

"What time is sunrise?"
"When I open this door."

i wasn't thrilled with daphne this ep, but she wasn't just raised in a puerto rican neighborhood, she was raised in a puerto rican family she had every reason to believe was hers biologically for the first 15 years of her life. it's understandable that she'd still think of herself as puerto rican, even if it's not technically correct. they even did a subplot about it.

reply

Well said. She grew up in that culture.

I was pretty skeptical about the "knowing Chinese" part. I know several Westerners who spend long stretches in China for work, and they all agree Mandarin is really, really hard for an adult to learn - basically too hard. They all rely on translators. Because it's a tonal language, it's easy to make a big, embarrassing mistake without even understanding what you did wrong. In living there for under a year, I'm sure you could learn a lot of useful phrases, but I really doubt you'd be fluent enough to understand those two guys were planning a robbery - and effectively tell them off.

Oh well, it's just a TV show....

I'm confused about the tattoo parlor. On the door it says "Bombshell Betty's", which to me sounds exactly like tramp stamp territory; but the owner seems to be named Noelle. Can anyone explain?
