When David found her real mother she was dead, but looking too young. How's that?
Berkano should've been more than 100 years old. How did he manage to survive?
The ending looked too unreal, but I liked the film, great atmosphere.
I agree with you, I was constantly trying to work out how old each character might have been with all the time jumps. It didn't help that, on the version I saw, the English subs weren't too good. But that's my fault!

Question about Berkano's age, if he was born around 1925 then that would make him about 85. Quite plausible.
I believe it was Berkano's father who took the baby, and Berkano/Benigno's story started in 1931, which would have put his age at somewhere in his 40's when his son was born (which fits with Tristan's calculated age).
I assume David's real mother looked so well due to Berkano's 'gift'.
My questions are.....
What happened to David's leukemia? and
What were all those glass vials on the floor of Berkano's lair?
not sure about the preservation of the corpse myself. but following is my theory about berkano's age.
i am suuming the film was set in late 90's, lets say 1995. the first year to be mentioned specifically was 1931. assuming berkano was 7-8 years old he must have been born around 1924. that makes him around 70 years old in the final scene.
