I actually really liked this movie (POTENTIAL SPOILERS)

I was recommended this movie because, well, I like 'found footage'-type horror movies. With a 5.1 rating, I thought it would be nothing more than a fun romp, but this is some great stuff.

The premise was good, but the execution was not to my taste. Frankly, it was too flashy and outrageous (furniture flying and kids transforming into demons...); basically, the kind of stuff that, in my opinion, works against 'found footage'-type films because it depends too much on SFX.

However, I think what really set the movie apart was the performance by Kai Lennox and Michael O'Keefe. When Helzer gave the explanation of a poltergeist caused by a person under stress, I was utterly convinced it was Alan. The man went through a lot and is going through a lot, which is shown very well by Kai Lennox, so I was completely convinced it was him. I guess I also thought it would be a nice bit of irony since the movie kept strongly hinting that it was one of the kids (especially Caitlin, of course).

Overall, the movie could have been a lot better (especially the climax and ending), but I thought it was very enjoyable.
