PARKING SPOTS

I noticed that every time the cab pulls over to the curb for a street challenge, to let people out, or arrival at destination, there is always a free space for the cab...can this really happen in NY?

Apparently that and people waving hundred dollar bills on the sidewalk after exiting the cab not getting mugged are routine occurrences.

And that, Lauren, is how taxes work.

F. Y. I. the money they are waving is not real, they are not paid on the spot because of tax reasons. it is just for show, the money. all I. D.s must be checked and tax information checked, then the winnings are sent by check a few weeks later.

The Toronto version is not like that. If you win the cash, they give it to you there. My friends were on the show last year.

In Canada, prize winnings (including our Multi Million Dollar Lotteries) are essentially taxed beforehand, so the prize money advertised is tax free. The Canadian version of the show, which this is the page for, can hand out winnings without risking the ire of CRA. (Canada's IRS)

To answer the original question, in most of Canada's downtowns there are either bus stops, 5 minute commercial zones or loading zones on each block to allow for this kind of thing.

reply

The money is not real. Taxman; a check is sent to them.
