I liked it!

I saw this earlier tonight, and found it to be rather fun and quirky, with good acting and some interesting visuals!

The characters were a lot of fun, especially Bruce Dern as the sheriff, and Val Kilmer was quite believable in his role, and it was nice to see him on the big screen again. His frustration of trying to think of a great story idea was true to form!

Elle Fanning under played her role a bit, which was smart, and the father had a genuine nastiness to him, reminding me of some of the evil characters of Robert Englund, so kudos to him!

The plot was fun enough for this type of movie, and I agree with others that it felt very much in the style of Twin Peaks, with a gothic horror coating added to it.

While not scary, other than one scene (Think of Beetlejuice & A Nightmare On Elm Street combined!), it wasn't trying to be, and it didn't come across as forced, even though it's done in an odd way.

The visuals for this style were well done, and very atmospheric with the enhanced moon lighting and otherworldly blueish gray tone. I really wanted to walk with these characters in that lighting! The near blinding whites were also fun and added to the ghostlike appearance to some of the characters.

Edgar Allen Poe was brilliant in every way, and lot of fun!

Don't go in expecting it to be on the caliber of Dracula, because it's a much smaller film.

Certainly a fun times at the cinema and an new change for Coppola!

I agree, I also really liked it.

Quite a unique movie... No "Tetro", but certainly really unique and interesting.

Glad to see I'm not alone here! I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie but, once it had finished, I realised that I really enjoyed it! It's such an odd movie that I can totally understand why many of the mainstream audience wouldn't get it. Sure glad that I did, though!

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, Mr_Saxon. I also enjoyed this film. Up to the first 25-30 mins I wasn't convinced yet... but ended up enjoying it.

I´ve just seen it, I must say I liked it too. Especially, the visual side of it, it was like looking at interesting pictures- difficult to explain. Anyway, I also like Val Kilmer and I think he did a good job.
The story itself is open to interpretation of any kind, doesn´t force you on anything. Nice film.

I'm a hard-core Val fan - and I'm very happy w/ the film! It was SO different! :) Bruce Dern is a HOOT in everything he acts in...

and Elle Fanning? Just so sweet and beautiful!

NOW if I could find a recording of Lisa Biales singing 'Hard Candy Mountain' cuz it won't leave my brain! ha ha ha!

Yeah, I liked it, too. It definitely isn't a mainstream movie - thank god, not another one! It's an odd kind of movie. Where does reality end and dreams start? What happened really? Were there vampires or not? Did that writer-bloke even ever visit that strange little town - or was what we saw just the story from his manuscript, the one he gives to his publisher in the end?

I really can see why so many people dislike this movie. Cos you have to THINK. It doesn't spoon-feed you answers - you have to come up with your own. And there's no simple formula at its core, either, like "boy meets girl" or something. It's like one of those dreams you wake up from and go "wtf???" because they were really confusing but still intriguing ... I'd definitely watch it again!

i diddnt like it but i diddnt hate it. its better than some movies that make it to the theater i just expected more at the end. other than that it was a fairly descent movie.

I enjoyed it also, it's not the greatest film ever, but glad i watched it and will probably do so again. Not quite sure what the last bit meant, but i feel the movie was more a modern fantasy, and to just go with it. Not sure where the people saying it was badly acted either, i thought they were good.

My only nit pick were the effects, but budget probably played a role there, and they were really only during the dream parts, so they could be thought of as how dreams are weird like that.

I'd love to hear a directors commentary on this, that's for sure.

I agree. I liked how it was quite quirky !

Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

TWIXT is indeed quirky, and it has a wonderful atmosphere. I like the cast, the way cinemaster Coppola tells his story visually and auditory, and the weird story.
