Twin Peaks: Redux

At first, when I saw the trailer, I thought it was some kind of a spoof/tribute to Twin Peaks with Val Kilmer and Tom Waits. But it's a new Coppola film!

Places, atmosphere and wicked sense of humour look exactly like Twin Peaks. On the other hand the writer theme looks like borrowed from "Misery".

Coppola tries to be David Lynch now. I remember when Oliver Stone tried the same with "U-Turn" and Werner Herzog with "My Son, My Son...". It never really worked.

And there is Laura Dern's father here...

It looks like some indie production made by a young enthusiast.

Nevertheless I want to believe in Coppola. This might be a great fun.

I totally agree and maybe that's why I'm so excited! I can't wait to see what he has done with it. During his panel at Comic Con he said some very interesting things about the future of cinema as a medium, you rarely hear someone as passionate and knowledgeable talking. He's a true artist, so it really bothers me when people who know little or nothing about movies criticise him saying ridiculous things and being ingorant without even knowing it or maybe thinking they're cool or savy for whatever reason..

For relaxing times, make it Suntory time

^Huh?

@OP have you even seen this yet? Or are you just making a big assumption after watching a 2min trailer?

And U-Turn failed? Your kidding right?

reply

he wrote the thread nearly a year ago....do the math

reply

And..? A year to IMDB is no big deal, especially seeing as the movie just came out. Your applying normal forum rules to a Movie database message board.

And just to clarify for others, It has some bizzare moments, but its hardly Lynchian. I liked it because I love Horror and good film, but it will probably not appeal to Francis Ford Coppola's usual Hollywood fans.

reply

i wouldn't say it failed, but it's surprisingly alot less popular than I thought it would be given the cast. alot of people haven't seen it, i thought it was awesome

reply

Well, you must really be a psychic cause these were exactly my first thoughts AFTER watching the film.Honestly,I just believe FFC doesn't give a *beep* anymore(not neccesarily a bad thing)

THE WORLD IS YOURS

I have no idea what you may have seen in the trailer, but nothing in this film looked or felt anything like Twin Peaks... spoof or otherwise... did you even watch the series???

A lone male from the big city arrives into a small, quiet, creepy town in the middle of nowhere, befriends the local sheriff, starts investigating some local murders involving the death of a beautiful young girl, and then gets given some clues via weird dream sequences.

Nope, it's nothing like it at all.
