Where were the mothers?

Throughout the movie, I kept asking where are the mothers to these kids? You never saw them. Never heard about them. Obviously, I understand that the story was not about them, but not even a single reference. It left the impression that these kids were spontaneously generated by David's sperm. Maybe some of the mothers might be intersted to meet the person who fathered their child.
