DVD's black level is wrong

(No that's not some racist thing!)

Watched the DVD of this recently, and was struck that the black level was off. Looks like the same offset you'll get when analog sources are handled wrong (blacker-than-black becomes black) which really hurts the contrast. I adjusted my display accordingly and it looked a lot better.

Between that and the non-anamorphic presentation, the DVD really isn't better than YouTube, which is a shame.

The audio mix is Dolby-friendly, but I'd think West would love to do a proper discrete surround version. Maybe on a future compilation disc.

"(blacker-than-black becomes black) " ...huh? I'm not sure what your complaint is.

The black level is supposed to be less than complete black for most of the movie. It is only true black in the part with "Lost in the World"
