Fell Far Short of Potential

SPOILER ALERTS

What a disappointment!

~ Yes, I loved Theo's facial expressions & some of his dialogue, the scenes in the Arctic, and the fact that some street folks were given cred, but I was overall disappointed.

~ While I got all the implications of the Chloe's fascination with Bruce Lee, I wish she hadn't ended the Larry King interview with a quote from him: it distracted from Theo's wisdom and left the tragic story on a glib, smiley note that conveys she's back to life as usual and her encounter with T. didn't mean all that much.

~ I didn't buy that a man, albeit a little, outnumbered guy, who had the bodily strength to ascend 60+ floors in a half hour and was an Arctic hunter, wouldn't have have a few good moves up his parka's sleeves in the face of urban assailants.

~ I really moaned when Theo said that the Missionaries taught him about this wonderful Creation being a gift from God which we must appreciate and protect. PLEASE ~ the Bible is the source of so many having an attitude that we should conquer Nature. And Indigenous peoples are usually raised with profound reverence for this Earth and could teach any Missionary a thing or two or 100 about that.

~ Finally: My biggest problem was with the ending.
That is something Hollywood does all the time (think "Powder") with characters who are more consciously / spiritually evolved than all the others: Sacrifices them. It's convenient. Then they are no longer around to hold us to a higher standard. But they ARE around in the Spirit realm doing the Shamanic heavy lifting of sustaining us.
