so what did everyone think?

I thought it was too slow I just couldn't get into too much endless talking with nothing happening. Then the kids we were meant to care about weren't very likeable I think we needed to see more of them than we did. Another bbc drama that promised so much but didn't deliver for me could of been a lot better.

I liked it. I think it needed a three episodes really but that seems to be a BBC budget thing. There were a few narrative threads which didn't really work but overall I thought it was thought provoking and well executed, especially the three kids who were all first time actors.

It was a decent Sunday night watch but it had the feel of a pilot, I thing if it is warmly received there could be a series.

A positive review here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/8611377/Stolen-BBC-One-r eview.html

Each to their own but I thought it powerful; and some emotive scenes that I will not soon forget thanks to a combination of the writer’s idea, director’s interpretation and the actors’ depiction—Kim Pac’s simple desire to see the sun, Rosemary’s equally humble wish to go to school, and Georgie’s wanting only to work to send money to his mother. A solid 7/10 from me.

I concur with Batsu that it would have benefited from being longer. Concentrate on one rather than three stories? Perhaps… but does the writer choose to rip our (the viewers) hearts out with a tragic tale? Or give us a happy ending, risking us shrugging with ‘All’s well that ends well’. Three stories provide a glimpse of tragedy but balancing it with hope.

I have no idea how accurate it is, but a quick search suggests that it (sadly) is not fantastical:
‘Quick guide: UK Human Trafficking’ http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5343036.stm
‘Children trafficked into the UK are being taken from local authority care to work as prostitutes or as child labour, a charity has warned.’ http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7023474.stm
‘… trafficking of Vietnamese children for cannabis cultivation …’ http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmselect/cmhaff/23/2 305.htm#a8
‘… exploitation of children in domestic servitude, restaurant/catering labour, building site labour, begging, drug trafficking and benefit fraud.’ http://www.ecpat.org.uk/sites/default/files/missing_out_2007.pdf
‘During Pentameter 2, 16 of the 167 victims of trafficking children, 13 of whom were trafficked for sexual exploitation and three for forced labour. The youngest of the children was 14 years old.’ http://www.antislavery.org/includes/documents/cm_docs/2009/2/2008_uk.p df

Not caring to have my opinions based on false or distorted information, I would greatly appreciate your providing further detail on this issue, PoppyTransfusion.

Thanks, P.T. I’m bound to say if you work anywhere within that field, you have my respect—I wouldn’t be able to handle it.

It gets worse yet—it seems we are the source as well as the destination: ‘Man jailed for trafficking Nigerian girls out of UK’ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14065838

O my Country…
