Did the kids get any roles after the Doc.?

I see that Presley is in Taylor Swift's video and that is a big deal.
Curious to see if any of the others get roles.

Just watched this with my daughter. That made me come and look for some of the kids in the documentary.

James now uses the name D'Kristian Lamar and has booked alot of stuff. We really thought that James was an awesome young guy and his mom seemed like a good mom. Not a stage mom. I think that is why she was not in the doc so much.

There were some other kids that have booked. Joey Luthman who was featured has some good credits.

Look at the imdb pages of the kids listed to see what they have been doing. That's what we did.

you have to keep watching the doc after the credits. they have a update on the kids.

Some of them got roles, and that spoiled brat Rob Reiner girl got on a regular show.

I thought James and his mother seemed fairly normal. It was heartbreaking when she said he wasn't going to be another black man in prison. I really hope he has a good career and life. His credits look to be mostly C-movie horror films, I hope he gets some better work.

his mom was messed up. that whole another black man in prison thing was pathetic. you know how to NOT get in prison, not being famous, but going to school and getting an education. That mom was so messed up.

reply

Haha yeah I did think that a lot of child actors get messed up and are more likely to commit crimes. But I guess he wanted to act, and maybe denying him that would have made it worse. And it can be a stable career (even if you aren't famous) and easier to get into as a kid.

Both of them were very race focused. Add in his "goals for the future" thing about not being in prison, not laying his hands on a woman (although honestly I don't think that was a realistic fear given how effeminate he is), etc and you're just given the impression that his mother has seriously gone to town on him and rammed all her person fears and racial issues on her child...that's a little psycho.

"Both of them were very race focused"

^How could they NOT be? Theres even a scene where casting directors tell a group of kids that they wouldnt be casting 'ethnic'-types during pilot season and they'd have to wait til casting was underway for regular series. Kinda sucks.

TOTALLY.

It's wonderful that she is raising her son to have those ideals, but I thought it was creepy the way he rattled them off as "goals". Like he was forced to repeat those things every day before he was allowed to eat breakfast. I think it's something you teach them, but I think she went WAY over the top in drilling that into him. I think she was really projecting some heavy *beep* onto that boy, and it made me feel uncomfortable. It's just as bad, IMO, as those pageant moms or religious extremists.

He seems like a lovely, earnest person, though. My heart went out to him.
