at the end of the movie "Case gets a call from "Big" John McCarthy and confirms his return to MMA."

is "Big" John McCarthy supposed to Ryan McCarthys dad from the first one or something?

It's so obvious, the tie-in is really a far fetched idea. If you really think about it.
