Did the script have to be this bad?

I'm a huge fan of the games and I enjoyed the first cgi movie (hate all the live action ones) so I figured I'd give this one a try.

Resident Evil is somewhat notorious for having overly complicated plots so what they decided to do here was create another overly complicated plot, which had me lost within the first two minutes.

The graphics are gorgeous, but then, unfortunately, the characters start talking. Leon is now completely reactionless to his monster encounters aside from dropping cheesy one liners. "Looks like I get to play Santa Clause" or "they keep saying these things make bad pets" are a few examples.

His European sidekick is pretty much the Jar Jar Binks of Resident Evil. His lines are terrible, his personality is all over the place, and worst of all, they kept pretending to kill him but then didn't. I don't think I was supposed to be relieved when he died, yet I was.

Basically, I felt the dialogue and portrayal of
characters ruined this one for me.
(Still better than the Milla Jovivich movies at least).

I'd have to agree with all your points. I quite enjoyed Degeneration (2008) but this one left a bad taste in my mouth. The script could have been so much better.
