I've watched the first two seasons and Mike's speech in the second season struck a cord. Besides the time he aged, virtually every other instance I can think of he either is unavailable due to surfing or drugs, his advice is so vague it is useless or someone else could give it or it is too late. About his only real use is knowing past things no one else does thanks to being around so long.
Were Olaf's oracle powers/role EVER useful?

of course olaf was useful - i laughed practically every time he came on screen!
i don't know if it's an oracle power but he's generally pretty good at identifying which gods the characters are, and what their traits, strengths & weaknesses are.
and he looks good with his shirt (and whatever else) off!
