Anyone else not like what they've done with Princess Celestia?

(POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

I'm about to reference an episode that came out a while ago. The thing is, I wait until they finish releasing an entire season, then I purchase it on youtube and then watch the episodes of that season whenever I have time. Right now I'm working my way through season 5.

Anyway. Here's my main point: I just recently watched (for the first time) "Make New Friends But Keep Discord", where Discord becomes jealous after meeting Fluttershy's new friend, Treehugger, and then he comes to the Grand Galloping Gala with a Smooze blob. The thing that really irritated me was when Celestia tries to get rid of the Smooze...and turns out to be absolutely useless! And this isn't the first time that Celestia has failed miserably to save the day; towards the end of "A Canterlot Wedding" she tried to defeat Queen Chrysilis, only to get her ass whupped and then cocooned!

Anyone else bothered by this? It makes the Princess seem like a pathetic push-over, like she's basically helpless without someone else to solve problems for her. Do the writers actually want us to think of her as a total wimp?

Now that you mention it, I kind of wonder why she got beaten those two times you mentioned. But I guess she's not 100% unstoppable.

Those are some poor examples as there were clear reasons why she was "useless" at those times, specifically magic resistant ooze and a powered up Chrysalis. You're probably one of those people who assumed she was god in season 1. She's not, she's very powerful, but not invincible.

To be fair, Luna never won that many battles either. Still, it would be nice to see each of the Royal Sisters win at least one battle on their own.
