The UK are apparently speeding through the season so as a result, the first part of the finale has been leaked. I can't say too much without watching the whole story, but so far, there's been good chemistry all across the board, though I have a strong suspicion Trixie is a changeling, too. I'm excited to see how Starlight will handle the situation.

Well, the second half was really good to me. The room of crying Fluttershys, the cute "ta-da!" before Trixie got caught, the bad yet hilariously on point comic routine of Discord, and the improvement and continuity of Trixie's smoke bombs was fantastic. Not to mention keeping Chrysalis her same dark self. With Season 7 having been announced, I guess it goes without saying that many world building elements may be completely ignored. I can only hope the writers will set aside some time for some political affairs and some time to see how the other lands are coping, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
shareI'm definitely excited to see Discord return. I also hope that season 7 airs on the day before Easter since both seasons 5 and 6 aired on the day before Easter so it would make sense for them to keep that pattern since they stopped airing the new episodes from Fall to Spring.

The whole episode to me was a complete mess, and in my opinion the worst season finale of the entire show, but if anyone else liked it, I respect their opinion.
shareHow so? It was a welcome break from the reform/defeat bad guy schtick, it was nice to see other ponies other than the Mane 6 doing some good other than the "Jump the Shark" episode, the characterization was on point... seemed pretty good to me.
About the only thing I wasn't digging was the new form of the changelings. A little too Technicolor Yawn With Moose Antlers for me... hope they tone that down in the next season.
Queen Chrysalis refusing to reform was a good change. The whole redeeming the villain trend can't go on forever with this show. That being said, I'm happy Discord was among the villains who turned good on the show. I can't help but wonder what they'll do with The Flim Flam Brothers next season. I also wonder if King Sombra or Tirek will return. I think Sombra died, but I forget. Plus, you could argue that not only does nobody die in science fiction, but you could argue nobody dies in fantasy. My Little Pony is considered fantasy.

It was a fun and exciting finale, I didn't care too much for the last two finales, and I thought this one was an improvement. It was nice to see Chrysalis was still evil, and there are still evil changelings out there(future episode opportunity.) Also, we have a male ruler who is not evil! Starlight has had a full redemption cycle since we saw her now. Discord officially is in love with Fluttershy, and has limitations to his magic(nice.) I wonder if they will continue with the two parters being made like a split episode as it was here. Or maybe, they will go back to the older format with each part being connected but having it's own beginning/middle/end and having it's own theme and feel to it.

I think we might get an episode where Discord meets Fluttershy's family. I'm hoping that maybe the writers might introduce Discord's family and if that happens, we might get an episode where Discord and Fluttershy's respective families spend Hearths Warming Eve together. I imagine the writers, if they conceive such an episode, would make sure it doesn't rehash the episode where Pinkie Pie and Applejack's respective families spent Hearths Warming Eve together.

Does Discord even have a family? I mean, if he did, he is literally the result of a *beep* That would be one heck of a family.
Though, in my head-cannon, I think Discord was originally just a dragon to begin with, and Celestia basically turned him into who he is today when she screwed up a spell trying to turn him into a pony.
Well, there are three possibilities.
One, he and his powers are the product of some magical mishap that made him, and his form represents this and his chaotic nature.
Two, there are other Draconquines and they also look like he does. Whether they have his level of strong magic is debatable though. They would most likely have his chaotic nature, but lack his strong magic.
Three, there are other Draconequines and he is the only one with that exact appearance. The reason being that Draconequines have an appearance befitting their magical nature. Say, one for order would be uniform in appearance. Another for light would be bright and made up of creature body parts that create light. Another for Darkness would be made of night creature body parts. Etc, etc...
The third is my preferred theory, because the idea of Discord being an elemental spirit that does what he does because that is what elemental spirits do is more intriguing to me. I like the idea of others of his kind having their own elemental domain, and not necessarily getting along. Truly, he would be THE Spirit of Chaos with that theory.
I'm hoping that maybe the writers might introduce Discord's family and if that happens, we might get an episode where Discord and Fluttershy's respective families spend Hearths Warming Eve together.
I hope they also explain why Discord tried to take over Equestria twice and why he was a bad guy at first. Judging by the fact that he said he never had a friend when Fluttershy declared herself to be his friend seems to imply he was ridiculed and treated like an outcast or freak by everyone he knew and being treated badly by his peers and possibly always being bullied by all of equestria played a part in him trying to take it over twice. We all know it was Fluttershy's friendship that redeemed him and we can assume that nobody ever offering their friendship to him turned him into a villain. Given that Fluttershy has been bullied and is very sensitive and of course broke down crying because she lost her confidence in Hurricane Fluttershy could make her and Discord kindred spirits if Discord was seen as freak or a monster by everyone before Fluttershy befriended him.

We actually know nothing of how Discord came to never have a friend before Fluttershy. He could simply have come into being through some magical accident and because he was a newborn nigh omnipotent God, he never bothered befriending anyone. At least that is one possibility.
I look at the fact that Cheerilee said he was a Draconequis as an example that there were others. It could be he is the only one, but my assumption there are others is just based off of her statement. If there are others, and he was born with those powers while the other Draconequines didn't have them, that could also explain his prior lack of friends. A small child with those powers would never grow up.
He also could be the black sheep of the Draconequines and the others are very dull and orderly. Thus they dislike him, and his nature of chaos prevented him from befriending lesser beings.
So he didn't have to be teased to not have friends. In fact, because he reacted the way he did, it would seem to indicate he was never ridiculed at all. He didn't seem to know what it felt like until Fluttershy showed him how painful someone's disapproval was. That alone backs up him being born to his powers and never knowing what it felt like to be hurt in that way because he was too powerful to notice or care about such things.
It was a very beautiful ending, indeed. Really glad to see that the changelings got a fresh start. I'll be looking forward in watching more episodes about them.
