Why do so many grown men like this show?
Just wondering, it's a little weird.
shareSame reason adults like children's shows they watched as kids themselves, it feels like a show that would have been out when we were young, so it feels like we've grown up with it.
That's my personal reason for liking it (the "to the point" version, without going overly detailed). Why do people (still) watch anything that's aimed at kids? There's obviously something that speaks to you about it. I personally think this show to be well written enough to be taken seriously, but at the same time still obviously a children's show, so we can watch it, and feel that we are watching something with a decent amount of thought, but still feel the nostalgia of being children (though I'm mostly talking about the first two seasons, no offense to people who find the later seasons just as good or even better).
Long story short, it's not that different from looking back at a children's show you watched when you were a child, we all have a childish side deep down, or most of us do. If we didn't then there wouldn't be any desire from anyone to create children's shows, because no one would care enough to make any good ones.
But, each to their own.

shareActually, I didn't, but I know that if I had given it a chance I would have done. I just remember the kind of shows I liked as a kid, so I know that if this had aired back then, I would have watched it, and if I had watched previous versions (referred to as "generations") of MLP as a kid, I would have watched them too.
I love them all now, and it really does feel like I watched them as a kid, even though I didn't. I guess if it reaches your inner child, so to speak, it affects you enough to create a kind of sentiment, that feels like it goes further back than it does.
