Shout-out to Breaking Bad?

In one scene with Adam Godley, the very hyper, confused mystery writer Martin Canning, he and others mention the name "Gray Matter" a few times. Though there are tons of companies out there (and films) by that name, I wondered if they threw it in due to Godley's role as billionaire geneticist Elliot Schwarz, Walter White's former partner in "Breaking Bad". His company's name in Breaking Bad is "Gray Matter", due to the combining of his name (Schwarz, that is "Black" in German), with Walter's last name, White, producing gray. Not very inventive, is it? Anyone know? (I realise that the programme is based on a novel, but the time frame for filming would have allowed the reference).

Don't get me wrong...
It might be unbelievable,
But let's not say so long
