I'm totally baffled with the dialects. Is this in England, Scotland?

I googled it, so y'all won't have to. ¨Alba¨ allegedly means ¨Scotland¨ in what is allegedly a language called ¨Scots Gaelic¨. It has half as many letters as ¨Scotland¨, so it is the mot juste for those who find keyboarding a torturous task, as well as for allegedly-helpful people who enjoy making slightly-less intelligent people like me google stuff. Set in Britain's most beautiful city EDINBURGH,SCOTLAND,UK.
It is my hometown,I am Scottish and I hate the imposition of gaelic on areas of Scotland where it was never the local language or not for a long.

I understand a lot of the place names in Southern Scotland were from Northumbria,and if you go back far enough everybody in Britain spoke a form of Welsh?
