I just did too and I agree. Judy Blume could create so much pathos and had so much empathy for the young adult experience. The movie was very successful in capturing the essence of her writing.

Happy birthday to the ground!

I have yet to see this film, so I don't know whether nudity would've been appropriate or not.

By writing "Finally, a great movie without nudity." you seem to be saying that it's almost always the case that if
1) a film is "great" and
2) the film includes nudity then
3) your enjoyment of the film is greatly diminished.
(Less ambiguously, (1 & 2 ) => 3.)

When you write about a great film, I assume you mean a well-acted, well-photographed, well-scripted product, with superb sound design, and which makes several intelligent points.

How can your enjoyment of a "great" film can be undone by the inclusion of something as trivial as nudity, especially when any nudity must presumably be important to the plot, character development, or (e.g.) act as a visual metaphor for vulnerability? In "great" films, every scene serves a purpose, so the nudity cannot be gratuitous! In great films, gratuitous scenes end up on the editing room floor.

Why does nudity upset you, and many other people, so much?

If you're a woman, perhaps the problem is simply that current censorship laws make it harder to show naked men than naked woman.

Here are a few films that I regard as great, that contain nudity. Do you think these could've been made without the nude scenes?
Naked by Mike Leigh
1984
A Clockwork Orange

(I'll try to think of more if you're interested.)

TIGER EYES was not a film I would really seek out, but for some reason when I was in the library I randomly picked it up without knowing anything about it. I did not really read the info about it on the back of the container either, so I went into this movie blind as they might say. So after it was all said and done it did move me as I can relate to two of the characters emotional journey in the film maybe more Wolf as I lost my mom to cancer and she passed away in the hospital. Anyways it seemed well done to me as being a teen can be rough enough, but losing a parent at that time has to be even rougher. Luckily I lost my mom at a later stage of life. Not to say losing anyone at any stage of your life is ever easy, but being older lessens the blow just slightly to me at least. Anyway the story in this film in pretty universal in the end. We face loss, but for the most part have to move on, live on that is what those that leave before us would want. So love you friends and family and don't ever take them for granted as they all most eventually go...
