Good movie. I gave it a '7'. It's a '7' on entertainment value.

If you watch movies to be entertained, you should like this movie. You won't hate it. It compares well to other movies on entertainment value. At least I certainly think so. I give it a 7 out of 10.

The problem is....it has become very difficult to trust anything you read on IMDB. Because people have no problem with spewing rubbish. They come on here and just run their mouth. Lots of reviews and post say this movie is garbage....which is not true. Many people walk around with sticks up their backsides; they're hung-up about a few details of this movie....so they come on here and spew rubbish in print.

The 6.2 overall rating on here is fair. Although it's a little low compared to some crappy-to-mediocre movies that score higher.

By the same token, however, if one spends a little time on IMDb, you can recognize the rubbish from a mile off.

I have to agree with you on the entertainment value and I didn't have any nitpicks with the film, except that the ending seemed forced. No serious clue during the film and then boom! Forced. But I also gave it a 7.

Don't trust IMDB ratings,you need learn how to "read" them.There are certain types of movies that are overrated and others that are always underrated.
Examples:A black american comedy would always be underrated,a holocaust,chinese or japanese movie would ALWAYS be extremly and grossly overrated.Newly released action movies or movies with edward norton,christian bale are overrated.if a movie is good but it features names like j.bieber,p.hilton or a kardashian it would have a bad rating.i usually dont't look at the main rating,i just read some reviews in chronological order

They show the weighted average, which isn't much of an average. Clicking on the averages will pop up the voting breakdown and tells a story. For Red Lights it's pretty clear that this movie was enjoyed by women more than men, but more men went to see it, (or more just voted on it). Marketing, cgi, the faceless mass play a bigger part on the rating than the actual quality. If I watch a film and lose track of time to the point the thing ends before I remember to look for problems, it'll get a good rating from me. There's a small minority who's hobby is to find the worst movie they've ever seen; small, loyal to each other, but competitive at the same time.
