Anyone else struggle with the dialogue?

I really struggled to understand a lot of the dialogue between Sam and Suzy in parts of this movie. Sam in particular spoke so quickly in parts, that I had to keep back tracking to make out what he was saying. I didn't find the sound a problem elsewhere in the movie so I don't think it was a fault on the DVD I watched. Anyone else have this problem or am I going deaf?

This means something, this is important.

No not really. I've seen it a few times now though so I have a lot if it memorized

I didn't really have a problem with the dialogue, it's the actors' deliveries that made it a struggle for me to get into its characters. Wes Anderson really likes that dry, stilted delivery for all his scripts and it always ends up leaving me cold. It's not funny or quirky when every character is doing it, it just comes across as obnoxious. Then again, the guy always seems to commit more to his aesthetic than he does to story. The day that Wes decides to finally make a film that prioritizes characters and themes above all else, is probably the same day as when Mars is effectively colonized by humans.
