Tried watching is - couldn't handle the stupidity.

First of, let's make one thing clear. Marines SIGN UP to do the job, like
like any other person signs for an employment for any other job, OK.
The only differense is that signing up for the military, you have to read the
fine-print which says you also sign up to get into harms way which will possibly
cause your death of permanent injury.

So why are these soldiers treated like hero's when they come home from doing
exactly what they signed up for in the first place?. It's not like they are
really fighting for freedom and to protect their country - they aren't even
fighting IN their own country - they are invading on the other side of the world.

If you sign up to get shot, and you GET shot, you made the choice - no one else,
and no one should pitty you for doing your job.

OK... it was bad that 50.000+ americans died in Vietnam, but it wasn't sad.
Exactly what did all those people die for?, i haven't seen any changes after
America lost the war which they couldn't win anyway. Exactly what were they
fighting for - again on the other side of the world?.

Also while watching the movie and getting to the point where he fiddles with his
gun in the bed, i can clearly see the distaste and discust his girlfriend feels
over him waving the gun around - loaded or not - she hated that gun.
But he didn't care one bit, he just wanted to be gung-ho and show of the gun.

And then during the interview, he said he just wanted to chew tobacco and shoot
some, then go home. Sounded VERY hillbilly and redneck American to me,
with a below normal IQ.

I am pretty sure he was a nice guy before he joined the army, went to war and
got shot... but going to war and getting shot is a part of joining the army,
or don't they inform their soldiers about that?.

Me personally don't believe is joining the army, because if the people who runs
my country wants to start a war, then they can go fight that war if they want it so bad.

In the end, i only felt sorry for his girlfriend.

On a sidenote: WTF is up with the Americans not leaving the village when they
are clearly asked to so the familys can bring their children back...
That is NOT a liberating force - that is invasion and oppression.

I'd be interested in discussing this with you. However, before I dedicate any sort of time to this, I want to establish whether you are actually interested in have a respectful discussion or if you just posted this to vent.

Let me know.
