I'm from Louisiana, and yes, that is a real French dialect.
In case any of you think they are faking it, or that they are just southern Americans making a bad attempt at speaking French, that's not the case. Louisiana French or "Cajun" is a French dialect that has been spoken in Louisiana since the British kicked the Acadians out of Canada and sent them south. I know it sounds quite ugly and unrefined compared to Parisian French, but that's what happens when native speakers live in the deep American south for two-hundred odd years.
One last thing: In past decades, the Louisiana legislature cracked down on the language. Children were punished for speaking it at school, and that's why it's endangered today.
