How long can it last?

For starters, I'm not here to bash the show or anyone who enjoys it. I don't hate the show, but I'm not exactly a fan either. I understand it has more than decent ratings, but how many seasons could possibly come from a show featuring such a specialty occupation? How many different ways can they show a dangerous and suspenseful catch? Or showing them teaching newbies the ways of gator catchin'? Or grabbing catfish with their bare hands for a genuine Cajun dinner? I don't see how, even for fans, this is something that could be enjoyed when it seems to be repeating itself every few episodes. The only future I can see that could possibly keep this show going is if they add more and more scripted drama and less time out on the swamp, and Zeus knows we have enough of those shows.

Can any fans out there let me know what does, or will keep you watching?

A show like this should last no more than 2 or three seasons, if that, in my opinion. Unless you have a great story beyond the gator catching, don't over extend something like this. If they really want to keep the show going, I would prefer they concentrate more on the people and other ways of life within their community.

It will be over when the finances from sponsers don't add up and the network can make more money from something else.

It will last as long as the channel that still has the nerve to call itself HISTORY wants it to, and continues to give it the "illusion of success" with extrapolated, estimated, irrelevant Nielsen TV Viewer numbers....

How long will it last? How long will any show last? Forever as long as the ratings are good enough. Other shows may be canceled even with decent ratings but that is mainly due to cast and crew demanding more money than they can afford to pay. Swamp people however is different in that they can (and do) bring in new cast members whenever they feel like it and also let them go just as quick. I can see this show going another 3 or 4 seasons easy.

With the switch to monday nights, the show might be in jeopardy. Even the posts here are almost non existent.
