Not bad for a reality show...

I'm not a fan of reality shows at all, but I've gotta say that this show is not half bad! I've been watching it for a few years now and one of the reasons I like it is because my Dad is from Lafayette (south central Louisiana) so he has fished and hunted (although never alligators) in the areas where the show is filmed.

Is your dad Cajun, dust 

does he speak French??

I drove through Louisiana on I10 and loved the countryside, the people, the swamps, the moss, etc!

Of course he is! And no he doesn't. My grandfather however couldn't speak English until he started school. And he's still alive btw, he's going to turn 88 next month.

And concerning scripted scenes, yeah. But at least they're worth watching. This is one of the handful of reality shows that I enjoy.

I speak portuguese, and sometimes I can follow what they say in French.

There are a lot of scripted scenes in this show but that is the norm in this genre but the moonroof's the gators receive is very much real. I always wonder if my alligator boots came from one the gators smoked on this show.

Most of the scenes are scripted, and many "intense" scenes are cut and pasted together if you pay close enough attention.

Plus the danger on this show is grossly exaggerated. These gators have been baited, and are dangling relatively helpless at the end of a line. It's basically shooting fish in a barrel.

I have no problem how these people make a living. Just don't try to make it into something it's not. These gators are not "monsters" or "demons", they are just animals who are being harvested in a VERY safe manner for the people.

It is pretty apparent to me that you have never done any gator hunting. It's not as dangerous as they make it seem on the show, but there is plenty of opportunity to get hurt real bad, real fast.
