I think Cruise would be smart to leave the series. It was a good film that tied in with the original 25 years later. All they can do is fck it up from here or water it down until people don't know one film from the other.

I loved how this film wrapped up ... I'd also hate to see the franchise continue.
Terminator 2 was the same way - a nice, satisfying closed loop that only got weaker as the films went on
But I'd have said the same about Rocky V, i.e., a perfect ending that needs no followup, but then its sequel (in my opinion) did it justice as did the Creed films
So who knows? Cruise has often said he'd only revisit Top Gun if the story was good enough, and this story was definitely good enough. Maybe we should trust the nutty scientologist
