Eh, Disappointed...

I just don't get so many things about this movie... Why did Weyland kill her? Why was he trying to rape her? What was the point of Eli's friend Katie? Did I somehow just completely miss the main plot?

Yeah, some of it was rather confusing. For starters, I could barely hear what they were saying sometimes, not sure if it was my t.v., or the sound quality they used for the movie, or what.

Weyland said he killed her because he was afraid she would leave him. So he killed her to protect her. Some protection there lol. Then at the end.... (spoiler alert), he tried to get past Eli inside the barn so he could slice her up. Then when he sees her, he begs for forgiveness? then he wants to rape and kill her afterwards. Sounds a little far-fetched if you ask me lol

Regarding Katie, I kept thinking the same thing too throughout the whole movie, hoping they would explain by the end on why they through her character in there. She really had nothing to with the plot. In fact, it seemed like she appeared out of no where. Like how did she find him? she snuck inside his bedroom while he was asleep one night. Then they explained that they haven't seen each other in ages. So it was by pure coincidence that they were at the right place at the right time (so to speak) and found each other? Like did she used to live in that "neighborhood" next door to him? Again, I couldn't hear everything they were trying to explain.

I watched the movie on Netflix so I didn't get to see any extras or deleted scenes like you would have on a DVD so maybe there was more to the Katie character then what we saw and it just didn't make it into the final cut of the movie. I feel like maybe Katie was there to make Amanda look sweeter or more "good girl" vs Katie sort of rebel behavior. I believe that Katie was a friend of Eli's from before they moved but I don't see her as a girlfriend since he wouldn't kiss her.
