The Book

I enjoyed the movie and I'm considering reading it. For those that have read the book, do you think the movie did a descent job representing the book? Are there any major differences in the book besides the Cold War time period and proposed theory of the wall? I felt the movie touched on the absurdity of existence theme. Does the book explore this theme any deeper?

"The Wall" is one of my favourite books, and I read it long before the movie came out.
I think the movie is a very accurate adaptation of the novel (with the added benefit of the beautiful scenery), and it contains a lot of the original narrative. The book is obviously written in a diary form. It's all her perspective, so there are no explanations regarding the wall or what happened outside - very much like the movie. The existential themes and her isolation are the main focus of the novel. I should think that if you liked the movie, it is fairly certain you will like the book as well.
