COTC Most Absurd Moments: Tie - No Police Back Up and Highway Accident

Granted, this was a podunk town with most likely, a small police force. But if the officer didn't check in, someone else would have followed up. Since we see night pass into day, there is no way they would not have investigated. When the bearded guy says "that should take care of the police problem", I don't get that at all. Unless they planned to say that the cop never arrived. Once the car was found crashed on the highway (without the cop), they all would have been suspects or investigated.

And speaking of the accident, are we really supposed to believe that the guy would be able to just remove her from the scene of the accident without anyone (on a busy highway) reporting it? And why would she even f&%*% go with him?

These stupid reasons and the horrible pacing, make this one of the worst COTCs - although, surprisingly not as bad as COTC: Revelation.

Just curious, do you have hateful comments to say on every COTC film? I've seen you on the board for all of them, but I don't think I've seen you actually enjoy one. I'd figure you'd skip the rest of the films if you didn't enjoy the first few.

I slightly enjoyed the first movie, but overall, I think this is a terrible horror franchise. Although, not the worst. That honor goes to The Howling franchise.

To answer your question, I'd like to think of myself as a horror aficionado and I generally watch all the films because I'm an OCD completist type of person. Watching all the films allows me to "build up" a big catalog of horror movies for future reference/conversations with other horror fans. And I also believe that by watching terrible films, you can appreciate the great ones that much more.

Again, these weren't the worst movies and they had moments here and there. But there's definitely a reason that everything after part 3 has been released straight to video.

Hahaha! You'll never believe this, but The Howling is actually the next series I'm going through now. I just finished the 2nd one today.

Haha - too funny! Great minds think alike! :-)

Let me know what you think of them. I want to apologize in advance, because I also posted something on all the Howling movies as well and as you can imagine...it wasn't good. I also want to say good luck! Parts 3 and 7 are the all time worst movies I have ever sat through. But like you said in another post, everybody has different tastes.

However, I really do love the first one. The fifth is not bad.

Aww this brings us to the end of the road LaurieStrode37. It was fun knowing I wasn't alone in thinking that this was one of the worst horror franchises. We're also EXTREMELY similar. I'm a horror buff, I watch a series in it's entirety, and I seem to enjoy/hate the same installments you do. Small world.

For what it's worth:

Howling-Liked it/humorous
Howling 2-Not bad/pretty humorous
Howling 3-AWFUL
Howling 4-remakish, I like the dude getting poked in the eye accidentally
Howling 5-Liked it, it's like Clue but in a castle, with a werewolf
Howling 6-meh, at least they tried to make it unique
Howling 7-one of the only movies I've ever given a 1 rating to.

I haven't seen the new Howling yet, so I'll be looking into that soon enough.

Thanks Fox - it's nice that there are others like me out there! ;-) It is sort of fun in a way to do a horror movie marathon, no matter how bad the series. Congratulations on making it through COTC and the Howling franchises. We deserve some kind of award, don't you think?

I was planning on watching all the Silent Night, Deadly Night movies this Christmas. Have you seen all of those?

reply

I did all the Silent Nights last year. Another bad series. Like usual the first is pretty decent, the 2nd is bad (although it has the infamous 'garbage day' scene), part 3's plot is RIDICULOUS, part 4's plot is CRAZY, and part 5 was pretty unique and had some really laughable scenes.

Watch at your own risk lol
I needed something 'light' after struggling through those COTC movies, so I picked up the From Dusk Till Dawn trilogy. I've only seen the first.

That's what I thought! Thanks for the head's up!

Np. And if you're ever going to give the Hellraiser series a shot, the most recent entry 'Revelations' got HORRIBLE reviews because it was shot in 2 weeks, I think around a 300k budget, and the original Pinhead was absent.

It actually wasn't that bad lol
