Has Kate done this before (SPOILERS)?

I wasn't sure if Kate manipulated the whole scenario with Benoit from the beginning. Was there even a serial rapist on the loose as she stated in the beginning or was that just the premise she used to 'meet' Benoit? I started thinking about this after we see that she has lied about her father and she's not as naive as we were led to believe in the beginning.

Also, when Kate initially shows Benoit her scar from previously being attacked on the job I didn't think anything of it, but later after she's killed Benoit she deliberately injures herself to appear innocent--what if she did this before? She may be using her job to hunt men.

Unfortunately, the film doesn't delve into her past in any depth. Wouldn't the police and RCMP find it odd that she's now been seriously injured twice despite being so new on the job?

Too many things that didn't make sense in this film.

I was asking the same question in the Big Question thread:
Did she deliberately removed the safety from the gun?

It was clear she wanted to sleep with him, but why creating
all this fuss?

I was also wondering why she brought up the thing about of
cheating. Both are adults. They know what they are doing.
Why in the world would you start this conversation?

I rather think that she was the victim of a rape. Since then
she was unstable and there was practically no other way to
"fix" the shot without losing her job - at least in her mind.

A very strange and unfortunately sad movie. I was hoping for
more intrigue and concept. We practically don't know what happened,
we just watched it happening.

there is nothing to indicate rape though. i think her father cheated/left her mother so this was her form of revenge. and she plotted it very carefully, from the moment she took him out for a drink (why would a young pretty girl go after a random aging guy who's just passing through THAT strongly?) i think the clue is when he shows her the pic of his daughter and she thinks she will be doing her a favor by killing her cheating father (it's also clear she wishes her own father was dead instead of being a loser/drunk)

It's hard to say but if so, they make you work way too hard to get there. The character simply was not well developed enough to do anything but speculate.

The idea had some promise, and I think the off cast could really have popped, but alas the script was weak.
