What was the big twist at the end?

Only could get this in the french dub. What was the twist at the end?

I just watched this and I have no idea.

I would not say this has a twist ending but it could be said to have an ironic ending, which some might define as a twist: when the film concludes, there is a bogus scene of Benoit driving in his car with his voice-over saying "statistically, I should live till I'm 82." Since he is murdered in middle age, his prediction is obviously wrong and laced with irony.

I see. Thanks, cdunbar.

Actually, I think the twist is just that she shoots him. I really didn't see that coming but really didn't care b/c by that time I just wasn't emotionally invested...

I don't see there being a twist. And I think that the ending was horrible--only because she got away with it. Maybe that was the twist, that there was no twist and she got away with it. [Edit] I think that the twist was that she planned their entanglement before she met him.

I think the Benoit ending was unnecessary. He came into contact with a sociopath, and she clearly planned to take his life after he told her this calculation--death at 82. I also believe that she planned his end when he told her of his daughter. She made up the lie about her father dying at 11--same age as his daughter.

The only thing that this movie could get out of me was anger that she succeeded. That is the biggest "why?" I ask. Benoit was tooooooo naive, and he let her tell him what to do. This is a simple story, to me, and it would have been more satisfying if she had gotten caught by the wife, the other officers, or someone. She could've gotten caught while killing the gas station attendant in the end while trying to cover her tracks. She was too unlikable as a character for me to enjoy/accept her getting away with all of her, not even well organized, lies.

I thought the big Twist was that Kate Logan got away with it
During the interogation, the officer was poking holes in her story
then I thought perhaps the widow of the French guy would have started her own crusade to get the truth, or perhaps in that final scene with the guy in the gas station, that he would have gone to the police explaining how Kate was not a hostage etc

I just feel the twist at the end was for a rare time, the villain gets away with it

Twist in the end was that the Director was so tired of it all that he decided to wrap it up in a hurry. Quite obviously, there were enough holes in the end for Benoit's wife or a bunch of other characters to call out her act. Script guy had already decided that the girl should be free no matter what.
