Another pointless film.

Really, what does this movie "prove"? Same as Supersize me, another movie that really doesn't have a point. Why is this movie being heralded as something great, when there's no real reason for this movie to exist in the first place?

So what? Adverts hit us everyday, does anyone with a brain stem NOT know when they are being sold? Give me a break.

I think that Spurlock just wants to flaunt his phony sense of superiority over the "*beep*!ng rubes" in another pointless, meaningless, waste of time film that will only appeal to those that think they are "smarter than those *beep*!ng rubes that don't know how to think for themselves"......

Right.... Give me a break...... Another experiment in how much more "evolved" like-minded lemmings are than the rest of "stupid America".

Enough is enough, give it a rest already.

Pointless film with no subtext, no understanding, no insight, no nothing.

I totally agree with you. Spurlock should jump off a large building to prove Newton was right for his next movie. I like the sound of that.

He's not trying to prove anything. He just wanted to explore how product placement worked.

Documentaries don't have to have a 'point'. They can set out purely with the goal of teaching you something. I, for one, found it very interesting to see how advertising spots are gained in movies, what kinds of negotiations happen behind the scenes and what sort of contracts the companies enter in to.

I remember when DVDs were brand spanking new with the director commentary and such, that was the first time I ever heard that every product placed in a movie has to be okayed and/or paid for or it's infringement (the director was talking about how someone thought it was funny to put Tweety into a truck and they had to shoot the whole scene over after someone noticed it).

So while you may know ALL about the topic at hand, others don't. This was very much a 'how X works' type of documentary and there's nothing wrong with that.

Do you also go to nature documentary boards and bitch about them not having a point? Because I'm pretty sure the tigers/horses/eels being filmed didn't make up a pretty plot for your viewing entertainment.
