She does it because this movie will appeal to women who will relate to the character and like SJP. It will not be a box office leader but it doesn't look any worse than the Tom Hanks/Julia roberts film or any Jennifer Anniston garbage films....why shouldn't she make films like this? What else is she supposed to do, SATC25?? Please, no!!

I already relate to her based on the trailer. And as far as the quality of the movie is concerned, it really depends on the conclusion of the movie. Either they come to the conclusion that she should quit her job and stay at home, in which case I don't want to spend money to see it; or they come to the conclusion that her husband could do a little more to help her, and I'm interested.
So we will see.

As a woman of the age group that this movie is targeted at (many of my friends have children aged 6 and down), I just feel like SJP was too old to be playing that role. I mean, she's 46 years old for crying out loud ... & looks it! This film would've been much more believable -- and effective -- if someone in their thirties played Kate. Maybe SJP could continue playing roles that either give her no children, or older children. I realize that she does have youngish children, but weren't they from a surrogate?

So True! SJP would have been more believable as a mom of teenagers than a mom of small children. Christina Hendricks should have been given the title role in this. My husband and I both liked this film and could relate to it even though I am a stay-at-home mom (aspiring, very badly, to be a writer). I just think it was miscast.

This movie is horrible right from the get go as she narrates the film, after so many of years of that on sex and the city this is huge huge mistake for her to ever do!!!

How could she be the highest earning actress besides AJ? What about that other oh so talented star....Jennifer Aniston? didn't make any money>

my gosh, SJP is simply not good anymore. And she is making a mistake doing the same old crap.
Why not do something dramatic for a change?
I will NEVER go see her in anything is she is carrying the pic. If she had a small part in something, well maybe.

I agree SJP always has that special charm when playing any role - I think she's great actress and makes the character so "real" you actually feel for her in the movies.

There's an audience of women who really enjoy lame rom-coms. SOMEBODY's got to star in them so she probably figures she might as well be the one. It's a pay check. Not every actress wants to be Meryl Streep.

she never really had one besides her show. what you keep seeing her put out into theaters is what's LEFT of her career. these are the only movies hollywood is gonna let her do and she's not gonna not work. there's no reason to stop if they keep paying her to bomb at the box office but please, don't give her the credit of having a career to kill.

Eeeeeeewww, you have to grow up to appreciate the movie, physically not as much. With a brain of 10 year old, stay on nickolodeon channel. Playboy and likes, although meant for adults too, won't help you get there.
It's a great movie, not for everyone it seems. It doesn't have gallons of blood splashing around, there's no pseudo intellectual psychodrama either.

Imagine how cute it looks when a preteenager uses childlike comments for his childlike arguments.

Using big words doesn't make you look big, especially when there's no logic to it.
Did you copy and paste those sentences from couple of other posts? It seems you put several unrelated sentences in your posts in an attempt to look big and smart and apparently to intimidate me with your illogical pompous words.

If you want to go into verbal arguments with others:

First: use a proper meaning of words. Inserting random sentences with incorrect words makes you look like a dimwit.

Second: study, study, study, take writing classes so your writing doesn't reveal your age.

Third: since it seems those first two is mission impossible, go to school, grow up and never come back. Don't embarrass yourself and your family.
