I like this show. Really.

I read the posts here so far...and I see there are many people who have a problem with how these two gentlemen do their thing. It's their thing, and they've made money finding rare objects through storage auction sales...but did you read the disclaimer at the beginning of the show? It reads that they are only showing you the "positive" units they bought. Trust me, they've gotten more crap units than ones that turn a profit.

The auction game has been around longer than one can imagine. They auction off anything and everything. When I first moved in California, it was all about House Flipping: Going to Auctions and buying houses and then flipping them for profit. Now it's about storage units - which are cheaper to get, and may contain profit.

But as mentioned in another post, I am in California too and California has storage rules before a company can place a unit into an auction. None are done until the unit is in default after 90 days straight. Many Storage Units in California work with people in the military - as long as you let them know you are with Uncle Sam and where you are stationed. (In some cases, in many states, Uncle Sam pays for that Unit - I know, I was a Quality Control Intern for the Army and that is one thing they did do.)

To be honest, this is why I will NEVER rent a storage unit. I will sell, give away stuff, keep it in my apartment -- but never have more than I can handle. When I move, everything moves with me. And to be honest, these storage units contain raches, rats, lice....people bring their trash with them and store it next to yours! So bravo for these guys to climb through all this.

I've seen too many folks lose their stuff to 'outlaw' storage units; or get their unit broken into by the storage unit employees as well as the people storing stuff there, etc. This show is about two guys looking for treasures. I wouldn't call it "Auction Hunters", maybe "Pirates of The Storage Units" -- as everyone is out to make a buck off of someone else's misery or an idea they stole.
